Waiting for a reporter to call for an interview and just thought I would shoot off an update for the farm.
I was overjoyed when I heard that the rest of the week was to be hot and dry! That means we can come out of frugal flushing mode at this house. Hopefully my shavings guy will be able to deliver today and we can get some hay all the way back to the barn and not have to schlep it down a 300ft driveway one bale at a time.
We have a window until Friday to get goats bred to avoid kidding at the State Fair so I am watching for flagging tails – means they are in heat! Hopefully we will have some “fresh” udders for showtime!
School has started again. For those who don’t know, I am a student at USF taking online classes. While knowledge is wonderful and I LOVE taking the classes, the most wonderful part is the health insurance. Unless you actually go through the insurance nightmare, most people don’t understand private health insurance, or at least the expense of it. After 7 years of paying 18K a year, discovering that I could go to school, even after graduating 33 years ago from college, actually enjoy taking classes this time around AND get health insurance it was a major turning point for our family. The cost went up 50% this year which was a bummer but it still isn’t 18K! With husband’s health problems, he is disabled, we can’t afford to be without health insurance. As an adult student I take great pride in my grades and go a bit overboard on the work.
Off and running on the farm! Peace!
